3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

Potential Health Effects

Inhalation: Respiratory irritation, dizziness, nausea and loss of consciousness.
Skin: Prolonged repeated skin contact with low viscosity materials may de-fat the skin resulting in possible irritation and dermatitis.
Ingestion: Low viscosity material, if swallowed, may enter the lungs and cause lung damage.
Eye contact: Irritation may occur if the eyes are exposed to a high concentration of fumes when the material is heated.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE CONTACT: Flush thoroughly with water. If irritation occurs, seek medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Wash contact areas with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Dry-wipe exposed skin and cleanse with hand cleaner, soap and water. Launder contaminated clothing before re-use.
INGESTION: Note to Doctor
Seek medical attention. Do not induce vomiting. Material, if aspirated into the lungs, may cause chemical pneumonitis.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Extinguishing media: Carbon Dioxide, foam dry chemical and water fog.
Special Firefighting procedure: Water or foam may cause frothing. Use water to keep exposed containers cool. Water spray must be used to flush away spills from exposure. Prevent run-off from fire control or dilution from entering streams, municipal sewers or drinking water supply.
Special Protective equipment for fire fighters: For fires in enclosed areas, firefighters must use Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. Unusual fire and explosive
Hazards: Vapor accumulation could flash or explode if in contact with sparks or open flame.
Products of decomposition: Fumes smoke carbon monoxide, Sulphur oxides, aldehydes and other decomposition products, in case of complete combustion.
Flash Point: > 80o C
Upper explosion limit: % (V)
Lower explosion limit: % (V)
NFPA Hazard Id: Health : 2 Flammability : 1 Reactivity : 0

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Procedure if the material is released or spilled: Report spills and releases as required to appropriate authorities.
Methods of cleaning up:

LAND SPILL: Shut off source taking normal safety precautions. Take measures to minimise the effects on groundwater. Recover by pumping, using explosion-proof methods, or contain spilled liquid with sand or other suitable absorbent material. Remove mechanically into containers. Dispose of absorbed materials as directed.
WATER SPILL: Notify port and relative authorities. Confine with boom or skimming equipment if available to recover the spill for later recycling or disposal. Warn other ships in the vicinity. If allowed by regulatory authorities, the use of suitable dispersants should be considered where recommended in local spill procedures.
Environmental Precautions: Prevent spills from entering municipal sewers, water resources or low-lying areas. Advise the relevant authorities if contamination have occurred.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Safe handling advice: Harmful in contact with, or if absorbed through the skin. Avoid inhalation of vapors or mists. Storage information: Store away from all ignition sources in a cool well-ventilated area. To minimise the risk of fire or explosion from discharges, static and/or vapor accumulation, effectively bond and ground product storage and transfer systems.
Storage and handling procedures: Prevent small spills and leakage to avoid slip hazard.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

Personal Protection Equipment

Engineering controls: Use in well-ventilated areas.
Respiratory Protection: Approved respiratory equipment must be used when mist concentrations exceed the recommended exposure limits. No special requirements under ordinary conditions of use and with adequate ventilation.
Eye protection: To avoid liquid splash, chemical goggles should be worn. Skin and body protection: Impervious gloves should be worn. Good personal hygiene should always be followed.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Elimination information (persistence and degradability)

Bio-degradability: The majority of the components in this product would be expected to be inherently biodegradable through photodegradation. Physio-chemical
Removability: Dissolution of the higher molecular weight hydrocarbon components in water will be limited, but losses through sediment adsorption may be significant.
Bioaccumulation: Not established.
Ecotoxicity effects: Toxic to fish, aquatic organisations and wildlife in liquid format. Do not discharge into lakes, streams, ponds, and groundwater supply.

12. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Waste disposal: Product is suitable for burning in an enclosed, controlled burner for fuel value and disposal by supervised incineration. Such burning may be limited pursuant to the resource conversation and recovery act. In addition, the product is suitable for processing by an approved recycling facility or can be disposed of at any government approved waste disposal facility.
Contaminated packaging: Empty retained residue (liquid and/or vapor) can be dangerous. DO NOT PRESSURIZE, CUT, WELD, BRAZE, SOLDER, DRILL, GRIND OR EXPOSE SUCH CONTAINERS TO HEAT, FLAMES, SPRAKS, STATIC ELECTRICITY OR OTHER SOURCES OF IGNITION. CONTAINERS MAY EXPLODE AND CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. Do not attempt to refill or clean containers since residue is difficult to remove. Empty drums should be completely drained, properly bunged and returned to a drum reconditioner. All containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with governmental regulations.
Other regulations: This product is not specifically listed by the EPA as a hazardous waste (40 CFR, Part 261D), nor is it formulated to contain material, which listed hazardous wastes. It does not exhibit the hazardous characteristics of ignitability, corrosively or reactivity and is not formulated with contaminates as determined by the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP). However, the used products may be regulated.
